Literacy
Reading

  • Determines the main idea and details to make meaning from texts.
  • Analyzes how author's craft and structure (i.e., word choice, point of view, structures; such as compare/contrast, cause/effect, problem/solution) impact meaning.
  • Integrates literature, informational text, pictures, graphics, and/or videos to build a deeper understanding of a topic or theme.
  • Reads with appropriate rate, accuracy, and expression to support comprehension.

Writing

  • Writes an opinion, informative, or narrative piece for a specific purpose and audience.
  • Uses correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure when writing.
  • Uses the writing process to publish a clear piece (i.e., plan, draft, revise, edit and publish).
  • Conducts research to share new information.

Speaking & Listening
