Andrea Beaty

Andrea Beaty

Andrea was born and raised in a very small town (300 people) in southern Illinois. Her father was a coal miner and her mother helped run the small grocery store the Beaty family owned. Andrea studied Biology and Computer Science at SIU-Carbondale and later went to work as a computer nerd. She had a lot of fun at that, but eventually left to raise a family. Andrea and her husband raised their two children in Naperville.

Andrea writes novels and picture books. Her newest humorous novel, DORKO THE MAGNIFICENT, will be published on April 2, 2013. It is about a kid who loves magic tricks and cranky Grandma Melvyn who comes to live with his family and turns out to be a magician, too.  Andrea’s other novels include ATTACK OF THE FLUFFY BUNNIES and SECRETS OF THE CICADA SUMMER which has been chosen as a title for the 2013 Illinois Reads program.

In September, Andrea will publish ROSIE REVERE, ENGINEER which is a companion to IGGY PECK, ARCHITECT.  Andrea’s other titles include ARTIST TED, FIREFIGHTER TED, and DOCTOR TED.

Andrea visits many schools every year to share her love of reading and writing with kids and teachers.  She will be sharing her talents during Literature Festival week with the students at Anderson, Corron, and Davis.
