Bob Raczka

Chicago native and local author Bob Raczka (rhymes with Nebraska) has a knack for getting kids excited about art, poetry, and books with his creative series of art books as well as his poetry books. Bob has a refreshing view of art and literature.  He sees from a unique lens as demonstrated in his book Lemonade (and Other Poems Squeezed from a Single Word).

Bob was creative even as a young boy. He loved to draw and create model airplanes and rockets.  He attended the University of Illinois on an art scholarship where he studied Graphic Design.  Bob rediscovered children’s books while reading and exploring books with his own children.

No One Saw is Bob’s first published children’s book and the first in an ongoing series Bob Raczka’s Adventures in Art. His latest book, Guyku, A Year of Haiku for Boys is nominated for the 2013 Illinois Children’s Choice Bluestem Book Award.  It’s a book about nature, the seasons, things boys like to do, yet girls like the book too!

Bob will be sharing his talents during the Literature Festival week with the students at Lincoln Elementary.
