Substitute Teaching

Substitute Teaching

Substitutes play an important role in helping CUSD 303 educate its students.  We hope that the Substitute Handbook will answer most of the questions Substitutes might have about working at CUSD 303.  Do not hesitate to contact Julie Wenger, District Substitute Coordinator, at (331) 228-4924 for additional information.

To be eligible to serve as a substitute teacher in Kane County, you will first need to apply online to the Kane County Human Resources Consortium by going to the Kane County Regional Office of Education web site (www.Kaneroe.org).  Click on Our Resources tab, Teach in Kane County  or go to www.teachinkane.org then click on the word "Substitute" on the left side to Start/Continue/Update Online Application.  In the “position desired” section of the application, select “Substitute Teacher St. Charles District 303”.  Once your application is on the Kane County Human Resources Consortium, all D303 administrators and the District Substitute Coordinator will then be able to review your application to become a certified substitute for D303.

NOTE: There is no guarantee that completing the application process will lead to employment within a Kane County school as a substitute.

A candidate selected to become a substitute in D303 will also need to obtain a background check through Kane County Regional Office of Education located in Geneva at 28 N. First Street (630-232-5955) at their own expense.  To set up an appointment to be fingerprinted, please go to the Kane ROE web site (www.Kaneroe.org) and click on Fingerprint Appointment

NOTE: There is no guarantee that completing this full process will lead to employment within a Kane County school as a substitute.
