BRIDGES Transition Program

Students in the BRIDGES program access services to attain independent skills in the areas of employment, education/training, and independent living. BRIDGES is a 5 day/week program designed to meet the unique needs of each individual based on IEP transition

outcomes. Students access the community multiple times throughout the week to generalize adult independent living skills and to prepare for life after public school education.

BRIDGES Programming

Students in BRIDGES engage in the acquisition and development of the following skills:


  • On-the-Job Training
  • Multi-step task completion
  • Rights and forms
  • Time management
  • Workplace readiness skills 


  • Functional reading, writing and mathematics
  • College campus navigation and participation
  • Executive functioning/organizational skills
  • Internet/technology use and safety
  • Nutrition, meal planning, and preparation
  • Money management
  • Access to housing

Independent Living:

  • Communication
  • Establishing healthy daily living routines
  • Facilitated linkages to adult service agencies
  • Navigating the community
  • Recreation and leisure skills
  • Social/emotional learning (i.e. coping strategies, self-advocacy, relationships)
  • Travel Training
