❝If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.❞ ‒Nelson Mandela

Foreign Language Student Success

In District 303, we believe that successful world language students:

  • Take risks, develop strategies and persevere in order to engage in interpersonal, interpretive and presentational communication in authentic contexts that are meaningful and age appropriate
  • Explore and analyze the practices, products, and perspectives of world cultures and how they relate to their own in order to develop empathy and respect for others

  • Connect with the target language and culture in order to reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines and viewpoints in a global society
  • Develop insight into how language is structured and expressed across cultures through linguistic and cultural comparisons
  • Interact linguistically and culturally with local and global communities within and beyond the school setting for personal enjoyment and enrichment
