The School Board Equity Goal

The Board goal is to develop a plan to create a culture that supports equity, diversity, and inclusion for CUSD 303 students and staff that reflects our diverse society and develops skills in appreciating differences, overcoming conflicts, and contributing to society.

About the Department of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

The goals and priorities of the Department of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion center around supporting schools and staff in ensuring that every student receives what they need to develop their full academic/social potential and is assured a high-quality educational experience. The department is responsible for the development and oversight of the district's comprehensive plan to operationalize equity through continuous analysis of student achievement data, discipline data, and system-wide programs, practices, and procedures.

The resources below include non-regulatory DEI guidance from education organizations for students, staff and parents. District 303 believes in creating an environment where each student feels safe, valued, and heard. District policies, administrative procedures and practices are a reflection of non-regulatory guidance, state and federal law, and align with our Strategic Priorities of effective collaboration, instructional coherence and building a culture of dignity.

Illinois State Board of Education Equity Statement

Illinois has an urgent and collective responsibility to achieve educational equity by ensuring that all policies, programs, and practices affirm the strengths that each and every child brings within their diverse backgrounds and life experiences, and by delivering the comprehensive support, programs, and educational opportunities they need to succeed.


Illinois Association of School Boards Equity Statement

Educational equity means that every student has access to the educational resources and rigor they need at the right moment in their education, and students' needs are not going unmet due to race, ethnicity, dominant language, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, family background, and/or family income.


Illinois Principals Association Equity Statement

The IPA values diversity and equity in our schools and in our Association. The IPA's Diversity and Equity Committee oversees the Association's diversity and equity efforts, which includes ensuring the IPA's leadership and membership are reflective of the profession. Further, the Committee provides critical input into the development of the IPA's professional learning program, Model Student Handbook procedures, and legislative positions.
