District 303 is committed to providing every student with high-quality learning experiences that ensure every student has the college, career, and life competencies necessary to choose their post-secondary path. In pursuit of this goal, the District has partnered with the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC) to conduct a comprehensive equity audit. The purpose of the audit is to assess the degree to which every student engages in meaningful learning opportunities that result in high levels of growth and achievement.
Confidential Survey
The survey gathered information from students in grades 6-12, district families, and staff members on their direct experiences within our schools. Survey responses were gathered from January 26 to February 9.
Focus Groups
The focus groups gathered additional information related to trends and topics that emerged from the survey. Students in grades 6-12, staff members, and family members were chosen randomly to participate. Focus groups were held throughout the month of April.
Focus Group Questions
Any student, staff member, or family member who was not selected to participate in a focus group had the opportunity to answer the same questions by submitting an online form.
Review of Student Achievement Data
The review conducted by Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago included an analysis of academic and social-emotional data to gain insight into student achievement across student groups and how the curriculum, instruction, and learning environment is influencing student outcomes.
On August 15, 2022, Catalyst for Educational Change (formerly Consortium for Education Change) and Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago presented their findings to the Learning & Teaching Board committee. These findings will inform the development of an action plan to address the audit recommendations. Below are the findings that were presented to the Board.
