Board Meeting Information

  • Even though Board meetings are held in public, they are not meetings of the public.
  • Board business must be conducted at the Board table.
  • Due to time limitations and the need to complete the meeting agenda, the Board cannot respond to public comments during the meeting.  At the Board's discretion, the Board, Superintendent or a member of the administrative staff will provide a response within a reasonable time period.
  • One of the critical places for school Boards to work is in the conduct of meetings that are effectively run, meet the requirements of the law and address the reasonable expectations of the citizenry.
  • Sharing of information, asking questions or communicating with the Board President and Superintendent is allowed on a one-to-one basis.

Regular Board Meetings

Public Comment at Board Meetings

The District 303 School Board welcomes community input by providing opportunities for public comment at all meetings. We value our partnership with the community and encourage you to respectfully share your perspectives and opinions that will assist us with important discussions about public policy.

As a board, we are committed to transparency, public engagement in decision making, and representation. We will model good behavior by treating those who attend our meetings with the same civility and courteousness that we expect in return.

We understand that School Board meetings are meetings of the School Board held in public, not open-forum town-hall meetings. As a community, we should come together to communicate with each other respectfully, to engage in dialogue to really hear and understand different perspectives, and to collaborate to develop solutions that can serve the needs of our students and to reach our goal of becoming more inclusive.

We will keep this in mind as we conduct our meetings, allowing the public to provide input at the time allotted on the agenda to ensure that multiple voices of the community are heard.

  • The public has a right to participate in the meeting only during the designated public comment times.
  • Procedures for public comment are clear and available at the meeting site and in Policy 2:230 - Public  Participation at School Board Meetings and Petitions to the Board.
  • The School Board President or Committee Chair will welcome any guests and the Secretary will review the public comment procedures.
  • The Board will not respond to comments during the commentary period.
  • The Board President or Committee Chairs may, if necessary, respond to speakers or communicate with the Superintendent during the public comment portion of Board and committee meetings.
  • If so requested, speakers will be contacted by an administrator after School Board and committee meetings.

Thank you for your continued support and participation as we work to serve the students, staff members, and families of District 303.
