The Board of Education of St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 has placed a referendum question on the November 3, 2026, general election ballot. See Election Resolution.
The referendum asks voters to authorize funding for a package of facility projects across the District. The proposed project package has a total estimated cost of $312.5 million. The District has identified $30 million in District resources to contribute toward the project package, with the remaining amount of $282.5 million to be funded through the referendum as described in the Board’s election resolution.
The proposed referendum addresses needs across all District 303 schools through three main categories of work: Repair and Replacement, Accessibility, and Classrooms and Program Spaces.
Shall the Board of Education of St. Charles Community Unit School District Number 303, Kane and DuPage Counties, Illinois, improve the sites of, build and equip additions to and alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities, including, but not limited to, replacing roofs, updating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, installing safety and security improvements, increasing accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and expanding space for Career and Technical Education programs; build and equip a physical education and athletic facility; and issue its bonds to the amount of $282,500,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?
The tax impact of the referendum depends on the amount approved, the District’s financing and tax rate, and individual property values.
The District has provided a tax calculator for residents who would like to estimate the potential property-tax impact based on their property.
The referendum proposal followed discussions by the Board of Education and the District’s facilities planning process. The Board began discussing the potential referendum on April 27, 2026.
The District has made Board agendas, meeting packets, presentations, minutes and other supporting materials available so community members can review the discussions and information considered by the Board.
