Community Partnerships through Work-Based Learning

The development of employability skills is a critical component of transition services. Studies show that work training experience, while participating in school related services, is a strong indicator of employment after exiting public education. D303's Work-Based Learning program fosters skill acquisition according to the

needs of the individual by fading job coach support as students demonstrate task independence. Students in Work-Based Learning are placed at job sites based on decisions made by the IEP team after considering the individual’s level of skill, independence, interests, and transition outcome.
